Pool gunite day 2

Today the wind is just as crazy or even a little worse. So the roof is still delayed. But that did not stop the gunite crew from working hard. Chris and I have spent a majority of the day watching them finish the pool. Today they worked on the beach entry/toddler shelf, the swim up bar and the slide. I cannot believe how massive this pool is. We are counting down the days til we get to use it because it looks like it is going to be so much fun!!

Here is some pics of day 2

The swim up bar!!! I cannot wait for a hot summer night and sitting on a stool with a cool drink in my hand watching the sun set and the city lights turn on!!!

The infamous slide...who needs sunsplash now???

The pool!!!

Now that the gunite is done the pool will be curing for a few weeks so that the gunite will completely harden. The next step will be adding the tile to the waterline, the slide and the back wall. Then the pool will have to sit until we are almost ready to move in and then they will plaster it and fill it up!!

The pool day 1

What a crazy 2 days we have had at the lot. First, this awful North wind has delayed our roof. It is so windy here that the workers cannot stand on the trusses to put the sheeting down because they will blow away!! So, it looks like we will have to wait until Tuesday for things to change on the house.

But what a difference two days can make in the backyard! On Wednesday morning we got a call that the gunite crew was at our lot waiting for the inspector to give the OK for them to start the gunite. We were shocked because they were not supposed to gunite until Thursday morning. Since we love to watch and photography every little thing we jumped in the car and headed up there. the first thing they did was the spa. I have to admit that once the spa was filled with gunite there was no denying that this thing is big! It can comfortably sit 8 adults with each person having their own jet! They then moved on to the pool. As they began shaping the walls all i could say is this thing is going to be HUGE!!

Here are a few pics from day 1.

Working on the spa

Beginning in the deep end!

The pool, the back of the house and my mom's house in the background!

Chris asking Frank "Just how much glass tile are we going to need?" (he is such a good hubby...he is letting me get the glass tile I am in love with!!)

Upclose on how much rebar is used and how gunite is applied.

Happy Friday

Happy Friday everyone!! Boy is it another HOT day here. I dont think I can handle the 100 degree heat. Because it is so hot I haven't been up to the lot but I do have some pic to share from yesterday!

As for the weekend chris and I are super busy (what else is new)! But we will be back Monday with hopefully some new stuff to show you.

The view of our house from the window on my mom's stairs

Just to show just how tall the ceilings are in the family and game room!! That is one massive fireplace!

Sunset on top of the hill

We decide to check out the sunset up at the new place and OOHHH what a beautiful sight it is.

These first two pictures were taken from my mom's house looking over at ours. I personally think she is pretty lucky that she gets to see our amazing house in her sunset pics!! :)

Ok... I know we don't have kids yet but I have to say that our oldest kid is going to be one lucky kid because look at this view from his/her bedroom. Amazing!!

And of course the obligatory picture of us!! The sunset behind us kinda makes me look like I have devilish horns...hmmm!! :0

90 degree heat = I want my pool!

Ok so today was the first HOT day and all I could think about was our pool. That is probably why I drove up to see it twice today!! They finished the rebar and now we can see exactly how it is going to look and I LOVE it!! I already can picture myself laying on a lounge chair on the shallowest part reading my gossip magazines watching Chris fly down the slide. Aahhh!! But we will have to hold that thought until summer of 2009- but oh what a 4th of July bash we are going to have!!! Tomorrow we are going to try and tackle the tile issue one more time. So keep those fingers crossed that we find something we like.

Sorry we have been MIA...

A big sorry goes out to our loyal blog readers for the long delay in between posts. It has been a super busy week and I just haven't had the time to sit down in front of the computer for awhile. So here last week in a short version..

- Chris quit his job and is on vacation for the next 2 weeks. This is something he and I are both so excited about. It was time for Chris to move on to more challenging things and he found it at his new law firm. Plus, the huge bonus is that his new job is only 15 minutes away from our house and it's right by the Galleria!! I am stoked because I will be able to sneak over for lunches again. So although he may be working 12 hour days at least I can visit!!

-Since Chris started his vacation last weekend we decided to take a little trip to Sand Mountain in Nevada for some quad riding. I cant say I would recommend sand mountain as a dream spot but it is great for anyone that quads! The boys had a great time and I actually decided that I liked the quad- who knows maybe we found another activity we both like to do.

-On the home front it has been a hectic week. They are still putting up all of the trusses. We had one major problem where a truss ended at a window. Not only does it look really bad but we couldn't leave it alone because it would eventually lead to a leaky window. But our super creative and talented framers came up with a solution that did not require moving or shrinking the window! -Yeah for Jenson Construction!!

- We also broke ground on our pool. They finished the digging yesterday and hopefully MOnday our permit will be issued and they can start the plumbing. The pool looks great and it is really going to be a great spot in these hot Sacramento summers. Before chris left for vegas this morning we attempted to pick out the tile for the water line and OMG are the tile choices hideous!! We both just stood looking at the choices laughing saying "do you prefer ugly or uglier!!" So we will see what we will end up with. I am think all natural with our light Tahoe blue finish.

-As for this weekend- I am a bachelorette- Chris is off in Vegas celebrating Gared's bachelor party. So I am going to go over to our friends house tonight and watch chick flicks, then spend Sat with mom and then Sunday with the family celebrating mom!!! But I promise to work on my blogging and keep everyone updated

One last thing to all the mom's who read this- Happy Mother's day!! You all deserve a day celebrating everything you do for your families.
