Still moving along...

We are still moving along with our foundation. They are getting the foundation formed so the plumber can come in and rough plumb everything and then they can pour the foundation. That is a site I cant wait to see!! So hopefully this weather storm will quickly pass or hold off until the weekend. (I never thought I would be hoping for rainy weekends :)

As you can see Chris is still loving all of the big equipment...I think he will be really sad the day they stop using it!! :) I think he is hoping Fred (our framer) will let him operate the crane when we start framing!

On a different note, Chris and I went to Tahoe last weekend with our good friends Mike and Emily. The snow was great and the skiing was even greater. While we were there we found the biggest icicle in front of the kitchen window. We knew we had to knock it down so that it would not melt and go through the window. So once we got it down on the deck I came up with the brilliant plan of turning it into a vodka luge. So the boys went right to work creating it. It was so funny to watch these boys in action. They took their job VERY seriously. I have to admit Emily and I did not participate in finished work! But the boys did put it to good use! So here are a few pictures of the boys in action. And yes, that is a "go girl"!!!

The building has begun!!!

The Tomaszewski Crib is officially underway!!! The grading and retaining walls are done and the actual building of our home has begun. After weeks of waiting the weather has finally cooperated and today when we pulled up there was the chalk outline of our home on the dirt slab. It is pretty surreal to see the house laid out on the dirt. It looks like it is going to be a big house.

They have already begun trenching the footprint for the plumber and foundation crew. It will probably take a few weeks for the plumber to lay all of the plumbing and then the foundation crew to lay the rebar and pump the concrete. Once that is done we will have our pad!!! Here is a picture of them digging the trenches.

In the picture above the part that is trenched is the garages. The one to the right is our main garage and the one to the left in the back is our "toy" garage. It has a 14 foot door and goes back 28 feet!!! It will be Chris' man room...I think he has already been saving so he can fill it with his "toys"!!!

Chris and I will be heading back to the lot this afternoon to see more of the progress and take more pictures so stay tuned.

Things we are thinking about!!

It has been a while since I updated the blog and since not much has changed at the lot (they are finishing up the rock retaining walls) I thought I would share things I have been thinking about.

This past week we had to finalize what appliances we are going to use in the new house. Now this is something I am VERY excited about. To be honest, rocks, dirt and big equipment is great to see but it really does not excite me the way it excites Chris. he seriously could spend hours, possible whole days, up at the lot watching them use the heavy equipment!! But back to me-something that gets my heart skipping a beat is appliances. My dream appliance is the Thermador professional range. This is the granddaddy of them all. A few months ago the whole family (well, the women) went to the Thermador test kitchen in the bay area and saw this beautiful machine work!! It is absolutely amazing. It can cook racks of cookies, a whole thanksgiving meal at once!! It is truly amazing!! So as I sat with our appliance dealer I did not even give him the option of talking me out of it-I knew it had to be mine!!

Now that we (yes Chris agreed to the range- Hello he didn't have a choice-wait till you hear his "must have" stereo system :) decided on a range I have been browsing for bedroom linens. It probably is not something I shouldn't be spending time on right now but it has my mind going at night. I have been searching all over the internet for the perfect bedding for the master bedroom. So my mission for all of you blog readers is to start looking for contemporary/modern bedroom linens. The wall color in the master bedroom is by Sherwin Williams and is called "dovetail". (sorry I could get it to post). I am open to any colors. So if you are interested-the hunt is on!! Let me know what you find!!!
