House Update

This month has been crazy up at the house. The electrician has been very busy doing all of the electrical work which includes the lighting. The plumber has finished all of the plumbing and the fire sprinklers are just about in. Right now the "brain" of the house is going in-this includes our wireless internet, alarm, central vac, the speakers and the wiring for the TVs. Once they are done next week we will have our HUGE inspection and then be able to sheet rock.

Another big change is that they started to wrap our exterior for the stucco. It is amazing what a difference it makes-all of the wood is now beginning to really look like a home.

We have been busy trying to finalize all of the tile that we will be using in the house and working on our landscaping plans so we can get the drainage system in and all of the concrete in before the winter weather.

We are still hoping for a December move in- so keep posted for an email asking (probably begging) for your help in moving!! :)

BREAKING NEWS....WE'RE HAVING A BABY!!!!

Yes you read that right Chris and I are expecting!! We are expecting the "next go-kart champion" February 11, 2009. We have finally made it through the first trimester and the morning sickness is gone and the energy is back. So I finally have the energy to catch everyone up....

Because I know everyone loves stories here is the story of when we found out. It was early Friday morning and Chris had left for work and I was packing for our trip to Half Moon Bay and I kept getting this feeling that I should take a pregnancy test. So finally I convinced myself to do it and peed on the stick. I forgot about it for a while then it dawned on me I better check. As I went to pick up the test and throw it out knowing it was going to be negative I stopped dead in my tracks because I saw two lines!! I couldn't believe it and since I didn't believe it I ran and got my camera and took a picture to see if two lines showed up on the display and guess what they did!! I quickly called the dr. and set up an appointment and then thought how should I tell chris? I only had an hour until I had to pick him up from work so I jumped in the car and went and got a copy of what to expect when you are expecting and wrapped it up. As Chris got in the car I told him I found him a really silly gift I just had to get him. He opened the box and his mouth just dropped and then was so excited. His reaction is something I will never forget.



The next thing we had to do was tell our parents...it worked out perfectly because they were both coming over for Father's day. We came up with the perfect way to tell them. While we were in on our trip we took a picture and decided to frame that picture and copy the mastercard add. So after lunch on Fathers day we gave Chris' dad a gift then we said we had two more gifts for the mom's. They opened the frame and at first nothing but then we see my mom grab her glasses put them on and start screaming and jumping up and down. Jola hadn't realized what was going on yet so Chris' dad grabbed the picture frame read it and started to cry and tell Jola. We all just cried, screamed and enjoyed the moment. It was priceless!!





Finally, later that day we told Ryan and his family. First Ryan and the kids came over and we asked them if they were ready to be big cousins...Ryan was so excited and so were the kids. Then Monica came over and we were all talking when I told her that Natalie had a secret. She asked Natalie what the secret was and Natalie said "auntie Kelly is having a baby!" Monica just screamed with excitement.



So all of our family new and it was time to wait for the dr. apt to confirm everything. At 12 weeks we got an ultrasound and got to see baby T's for the first time and see its heartbeat. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Chris and I just sat there speechless...we are having a baby!!!



We are now 15 weeks and looking forward to our next appointment -which is when we get to find out the sex of baby T.

We were trying to think of a new name for the blog when my good friend Jen (hi J) pointed out that the tomaszewski crib is very fitting not only for our new house but also for the new baby. So we are going to keep updating everyone on the house and the baby on this blog. So please check back for all kinds of updates. And I do promise to keep up with posting.

It's only been a month!!

WOW! How quickly a month can slip on by. I can't believe we haven't updated the blog in that long. We have been super busy and I just haven't had the time to sit down at the computer. But here is a house update....

Our roof has been installed...well the second story has. They cant do the 1st story until after the stucco goes on and people are done walking on the roof. But we REALLY like the way the roof looks. It has very clean lines and doesn't really stand out which is exactly what we wanted.



The pool tile is finally installed. It took a few weeks for them to do all of the work. It was much more labor intensive than we imagined. But the work was so worth it. It looks amazing!!! I was a little worried that the slide may stand out a little too much since it is so big but they did a great job and when the landscaping is in it is not going to be a focal point at all. So far everyone that come through the house just stops and stares at the pool and cant wait to be invited to try it out.







They have started installing our windows and sliding glass doors. They are HUGE and very heavy!! But once again we are really excited about how they have changed the overall look of the house.

Finally, the plumber, HVAC guys and soon the electrician have started putting together the "brains" of the house. When you walk in you see lots of pipes, air vents and electrical wires hanging around. I am not really that interested in this stage so I am not so addictive to photographing it. But I will try and do a better job.





We have been busy with making quick trips up to the lot to try and solve the problems that come up on a daily bases. It has been a little frustrating lately but I have to keep reminding myself about how worth it it is going to be in the end.

Other than that this heat is horrible, the smoke is making the days drag on because Chris and I wont go for our nightly walks and I am ready for Fall. I hope this post finds everyone doing well. I promise to get back into the blogging world.

We're back!

Hi Everyone...we are back from our weekend away. In case you couldn't figure it out we were in Half moon Bay at the Ritz Carlton. We had a fabulous time celebrating Gared and Liz's wedding. I had a great massage and really enjoyed unwinding by the sea. The wedding was beautiful and we really had fun catching up with everyone from the Bay area.

On the house front, they are still plucking away at the duct work for our HVAC. Tomorrow we meet with the plumber to determine where our hose bids will go. On Monday we had our first cabinet measurement at the house- I cannot wait to see the final products!! I dont have any new pics to share of the house because it looks the same. But hopefully on Monday the plumber will be done with all of the roof vents and next week they will start felting the roof and bring our new roof tiles over!! So keep posted.

Where in the US will we be this weekend?

Our bags are packed and we are headed out for the weekend...but can you guess where we will be?? Here are a few hints. We are headed here for a wedding...it is less than a 4 hour drive from home...it is known to be foggy in the mornings...it is a great place to be pampered (I cant wait for my spa day:)...many people love to golf here (Chris will be trying this as well)...it is on the coast...and we just cant wait to get there. Any guesses??




On the home front, things were slow the last couple of days. We have not seen much going on. But we had a talk with a few contractors and things will be moving again on Monday so we will have more to post then.

An overdue update.

Wow, it is crazy how quickly two weeks can slip by. Here is a little update on the last two weeks. Memorial day weekend we were in Yerington, NV racing with Rescue Racing. It was flashbacks to last years Henderson race because it rained and rained all day Friday and Saturday. But come race morning, our prayers were answered and the rain stopped. The race went ok, chris and Ryan did not finish due to a rock jumping out in front of them and busting their rear tire and rim. Jeremy and Dave also did not finish due to a transmission problem. Our last hope was with Rick in the trophy truck and unfortunetly luck was not on our side. He had a gasket that blew three times and kept catching on fire! So he decided to quit before any more problems. But we were not the only team that had problems. I believe out of almost 20 trucks in our division only 3 actually finished! So the good news is that all three trucks did end up getting points toward the overall championship.

Chris is back to work :(!! How quickly his vacation went by. I dont think he got as many lazy days as he hope for but overall he enjoyed the time off. His new job ROCKS!! His commute is now less than 10 minutes and with the crazy diesel prices this has made a HUGE difference on the checkbook. Another major bonus is that I can visit him again for lunch. He is enjoying the job because he is challenged everyday and is already learning so much.

On the home front...well they painted the trim and have started putting up the gutters. The roof is all sheeted and we are now waiting for the roofers to start once the gutters completely installed. The next two months are going to be really boring-well at least according to me. Chris thinks it is going to be great because the electrician and the home automation will start. So I will apologize in advance if the posts seem boring. But on the flip side, I will be asking for your opinions on a bunch of other details.

The fireplaces



About the fireplaces...this will be my first official vent. So we get to the house tonight and we see the fireplaces and they are black. Black...uhm...when everything else in the house is stainless steel? Where the mantle that is going above this fireplace is stainless steel...I don't think so. Lets just say that by 7 am tomorrow I will be rechecking the order and making sure stainless steel ones are coming. Oh and to top it off the black ones are scratched! I will keep you posted on the outcome :)

Pool gunite day 2

Today the wind is just as crazy or even a little worse. So the roof is still delayed. But that did not stop the gunite crew from working hard. Chris and I have spent a majority of the day watching them finish the pool. Today they worked on the beach entry/toddler shelf, the swim up bar and the slide. I cannot believe how massive this pool is. We are counting down the days til we get to use it because it looks like it is going to be so much fun!!

Now that the gunite is done the pool will be curing for a few weeks so that the gunite will completely harden. The next step will be adding the tile to the waterline, the slide and the back wall. Then the pool will have to sit until we are almost ready to move in and then they will plaster it and fill it up!!
